27/12/10 - When i was on a train to Liverpool I found a gradual slight difference from Wolverhampton to Liverpool in the sounds of peoples accent and the vocabulary they used.
A group of women who came on at Crewe and over heard a conversation:
‘you can tell when your coming into Liverpool’
‘why - well how?’
‘can tell by the way the houses are like’
I found this such an interesting and strong idea to consider. It made me think, can people tell were they are by just the landscapes and surroundings? Is this what an identity is about? The small characteristics of everybody lives or is it far more complex than that?
