What is what?

What is a dialect?
A dialect is a specific variety of English that differs from
other varieties in three specific ways:

lexis (vocabulary - words we use),
grammar (structure - way we put speech together)
phonology (pronunciation or accent).

What is a Accent
Accent refers only to differences in the sound patterns of
a specific dialect. Could be through long / short vowels, speed of talking, intonation, diction, stress syllables, formality when speaking to others, pitch, and slang.
